Wonder how trade wars, the rise of China, economic union, Brexit, … are all associated? Is climate change a cause of migration? What kind of policies can we design to mitigate the fallout of the financial crisis?

The Master of Economics in Globalization and European integration is a specialist masters degree designed to provide you with rigorous training in theoretical and applied economics in the fields of international economics, and in particular focuses on Economics of Globalisation, International Trade, European Economic Integration.

EGEI provides a profound insight into the current scientific knowledge in these fields and is supported by scientific research at the partner universities. We work together with international institutions in these areas.

Students build on their undergraduate or postgraduate training by completing compulsory core courses on economic integration and globalisation. Students can also choose from a selection of optional courses that cover a range of topics in international economics. Students also conduct original research to fulfil the dissertation, which might be related to an internship.

A truly international master

We select around 30 students from all continents, as our partners work globally, with universities in Belgium, China, Czechia, France, Italy, and Spain.

The setup of the programme is such that students are constantly operating in an international environment. Courses are taught by staff of the 6 partner institutions. You move as a group to three partner universities in three different countries. This master’s degree programme in economics is essentially geared to students interested in careers in research, in government and international organisations, and in the research and strategy departments of large banks and industrial and commercial corporations.

The next academic year takes place at Université Lille 1, Sciences et Technologies in Lille (France), at Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze in Prague (Czech Republic) and at Università degli Studi di Bari ‘Aldo Moro’ in Bari (Italy).

Structure of the Programme

The master’s programme has a workload of 60 ECTS* credits, with a taught part consisting of 45 credits and a dissertation of 15 credits. The study programme is full-time and runs over 12 months. It is taught by staff of the 6 partner institutions. During the year students move as a group to three different universities in three different countries.

The programme is open to students who:

  • Have earned 240 ECTS credits in an economics or applied economics study programme, or who have a bachelor’s degree considered equivalent by the Admissions Committee
  • Are fluent in English, being able to provide a proof of an iBT TOEFL test level of minimum 90 or of an IELTS academic test level of minimum 6.5
  • Follow the joint application procedure as established by the EGEI consortium
  • Complete the online application and submit all requested documents by the established deadline 

Applicants enrolled in the final year of their academic programme should submit an official letter in English from their university confirming that they are expected to finalise their course at the end of the current academic year, and submit up-to-date authenticated transcripts of results for each year of study.

Financial Aspects

The tuition fee is 3,600 euros for all students. 
In addition to tuition fees, students should also budget for travel, accommodation, food and study materials.

You can earn an Erasmus scholarship covering
your costs of lodging if you inscribe at any of the EU partner universities.

We offer scholarships to Latin American students, and a Merit Scholarship for a student specialising in international trade.
